The Iron Cross is a military decoration established in 1813 by the Kingdom of Prussia. It was later used by the armed forces of the Greater German Reich, the Wehrmacht, as an official battlefield honor. Today, a modern version of the symbol is still used by the German Bundeswehr as part of its military heritage.
